Leveling Archaeology to 525 is very straight forward but brace yourself as it will take time and plenty of patience. So let's get started... here is a simple guide on how to powerlevel your Archaeology from 1 to 525 which will be updated as the game progresses.
Levels 1-100
To start off, head to your faction's Archaeology trainer in either Stormwind or Orgrimmar (there's also one in Dalaran). You will need to be at least level 20 to get started. Now you've gained two abilities, Survey and Archaeology. For the first 100 levels we'll only use Survey and avoid Archaeology. Let's start by heading to our first digsite. To find one, open up your map and look for shovel icons.

Once you arrive at a digsite, use your Survey ability and your character will survey the site and determine the location and distance the artifact is away from your current location. The scope will point in the direction of the artifact and the color of the light will tell you if it's very close (green), near by (yellow) or far away (red).

The moment you find and receive the artifact you will gain one level. You can survey each digsite 3 times and you will always have 4 digsites available per continent. Continue surveying until level 100. Try to avoid completing artifacts until you've reached level 100 since you will no longer be able to level up by surveying after level 100.
Levels 100-525
Once you're level 100, you're done leveling by finding artifacts (although you'll need finding artifacts). Now you should complete your artifacts by solving them. You can do this by using your Archaeology ability and selecting 'Solve' where you have enough artifacts to do so. This will give you 5 levels per completed artifact as well as a novelty item, often worth a few silver or gold to a vendor. As you reach higher levels and solve better artifacts there are novelty items, Bind on Equip and even Bind on Account items available from Archaeology.

Reforging was added to the WoW Cataclysm to allow more gear options for players and to reduce the number of unpopular or common items dropped in instances that were left to rot or simply disenchanted and is not in any way intended to be use on all items. It should be with this in mind that players decide to use the reforging process. So for example if an item drops with Spirit instead of the Haste you need, you may still be able to use it as Haste can be added by reforging it. So the next time a piece of gear drops that doesn’t quite fit your ideal stats, don’t pass it up, take a moment to think it over and using the information provided above consider if reforging could make it the perfect piece of gear for you.

Reforgable Stats
* Critical Strike Rating
* Dodge Rating
* Expertise Rating
* Haste Rating
* Hit Rating
* Mastery Rating
* Parry Rating
* Spirit

Non Reforgable Stats
* Agility
* Intellect
* Stamina
* Strength
* You also may not use reforging to add to a stat that is already on the item.

The Reforging Process
Players must visit one of the Reforging NPCs that can be found near the Enchanting trainer. Before you make your way here though, be sure to have the piece of gear you wish to reforge in your bags. Once you arrive at the Arcane Reforger simply right click on the NPC to open the Reforging menu.

Once opened reforging an item is a rather easy process. Simply place the item you wish to reforge in the box in the top left hand corner (next to the text that says “Drag an item here to reforge it). Once an item is in place, two new drop down menus appear. The first allows the player to choose what stat from the item they wish to reduce in place of another. This menu will only list stats that are available for the process and will also display how much the chosen stat will be reduced.

Once the stat is chosen that the player wishes to reduce the next drop down menu will become active. This menu will allow the player to choose a stat to add to the item and will also display how much of that stat will be added. Once chosen players can view the current stats side by side with the pending stat changes just below the drop down menus. The price of the reforging process will also be displayed. Check to be sure the changes appear to be correct and then simply hit the reforge button at the bottom of the screen to complete the reforging process.

Un-Reforging
Since item stats can only be reforged one at a time there may come a point along the way where the player decides they would like to choose another stat to add or they may simply want to restore the item to it’s original state. In order to do this simply take the item back to the Arcane Reforger and once again place the item into the box in the top left corner of the Reforging screen. Once the item is placed all the player need do it simply click the Restore button located at the bottom of the screen next to the Reforge button.

Update: Check my new guide on Archaeology 1 - 525 Powerleveling

There are 12 fields of research players can explore, each relating to a race in the game, ie. Troll, Night Elf, Dwarf, Tol’Vir. Using the Survey skill players need to gather Archaeology Fragments of one type, ie. Dwarf Archaeology Fragment, from Archaeology Finds of the same type. They can then Solve the current stage of this race’s research and will receive an item upon doing so.

Digsites

Once you train archaeology, you can see digsites on your map (not your minimap – your map). There are always 4 digsites per continent. These will not change until you dig one out. Most of the time, you’re probably only going to be concerned with the 4 sites on your current continent, but at higher character and archaeology skill levels, there will be 16 sites active at one time (4 each in Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Outland and Northrend.)

You will only find sites in zones of your level or lower. A level 25 player will have all 4 sites per continent in level 25 zones. (This means Outland and Northrend will have no sites at this time.) A level 80 player will have all 4 sites in any zone. A low level Kalimdor player might have sites in Ashenvale and Stonetalon, while a level 82 might have Uldum, Ashenvale, Stonetalon and Silithus.

Sites are race specific. You can usually guess the race by the location. Kalimdor tends to have a lot of night elf ruins. Eastern Kingdoms tends to have a lot of dwarf ruins.

Some races are only available on some continents (such as orc and draenei on Outland). You need to have a minimum character level and a minimum archaeology level to use these. Currently you can see them if you are a certain character level but can’t gather from them until your archaeology skill is higher. For Outland, the skill is 300. While somewhat consistent with other gathering skills, we think this is confusing and we will change it so that you don’t even see the digsites until your archaeology skill is sufficiently high. Tol’vir artifacts are the most rewarding, but also require near max archaeology skill to recover.

Some players are reporting some issues with digsites not showing up correctly. We’ll look into these bugs.

Unlike other gathering skills, digsites are player-specific. Other players will be searching in different locations. There is no competition for digsites.

Fragments

Each digsite can be searched 3 times before it despawns and a new site spawns. If there is a digsite somewhere too far away from you or otherwise inconvenient, just ignore it and hit the closer ones. You won’t run out.

To search a digsite, use the Survey ability. The survey tool will spawn and point in the approximate direction of the artifact. Red means you’re far away. Yellow means you’re close. Green means you may be within 40 yards or so. When you discover your find, you’ll get fragments specific to a particular race.

There are two main strategies to surveying. You can attempt to triangulate by moving around the outer edge of a digsite. (Like quest blobs, the digsites are not necessarily circular.) Other players just keep surveying, heading in the direction the tool points until they strike paydirt.

Remember, the thing you uncover is yours. There is no competition with other players and nobody can gank your node.

Artifacts

Whenever you get a new fragment for a race, you’ll start a research project. You can only work on one artifact per race at a time. When you have enough fragments, click Solve to complete that artifact. You won’t waste excess fragments — they will just start the next project. You can be working on one project for each race at a time.

Most artifacts are common. These give you a little bit of lore or flavor text and an item you can sell for a small profit (presumably to a museum!) The profit increases as the value of the artifact increases. You can estimate this by the number of fragments needed to finish the artifact. You will only find cheaper artifacts at low level, but you can find cheap and valuable artifacts at higher level (the reason for this is we want players to be able to find all the artifacts if they want to). You won’t find a second copy of a common object until you have found all the artifacts of that race. If you get stuck at a certain skill level of archaeology or character level, you may find an artifact more than once until you reach the next tier.

Some artifacts are rare. These always make a blue or purple item. Many of these have no in-game power and are toys or for flavor. Some of them are actual weapons and armor. The latter items are all bound to account. They aren’t heirlooms in that they don’t scale, but you can pass them around. So if you are level 80 and you find a level 60 axe, you can always have another character use it when they are level 60. You will never get a rare artifact more than once.
The future of Archaeology

We designed archaeology to be easily expandable, so we plan to add much more content in future patches, including new races to research (though to be fair, there’s a sizable amount of content already). We also have a feature that is not available on beta yet, that allows you to use your archaeology skill for a slight (think Fish Feast-level) bonus in the Cataclysm dungeons.

Update: You can currently gather fragments that are higher than your level (e.g. orc or draenei for many of you at ~100 archaeology) but you can’t complete artifacts yet until your skill is at 300. This should be less confusing in an upcoming build.

Archaeology is a secondary profession that will be released in the upcoming expansion, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm.
  • Intended as a casual profession for players to enjoy in their “downtime”.
  • Focused on locating, piecing together, and appraising artifacts unearthed by the Cataclysm.
  • Interacting with an artifact you find is similar to other gathering professions. It has been specifically stated that you will be able to track both Artifacts and your regular “tracking” for gathering professions. Instead of tracking individual nodes, you will instead search marked regions on the world map (a shovel icon when viewing an entire continent, or a red enclosed region when viewing a single zone).
  • Artifacts will go into a new artifact journal instead of your inventory.
  • Placing an artifact in your journal will allow you to “study” it and progressively unlock new rewards.
  • Unlocks unique rewards such as vanity pets, mounts, and other “toys”, with occasional rare quality weapons or armor.
  • Players will be able to read ancient runes found amidst ruins and in dungeons to provide themselves and other players with buffs.
  • Some items and discoveries will be heavily geared towards expanding the game’s lore, filling in plot holes, and documenting the history of the world as it was before the Cataclysm. Players will reportedly be able to compile what amounts to a lore database.
  • A mock-up of the Archaeology interface is presented as a hand-written journal, with a listing of artifacts, relics, and related reagents and tasks, as well as artwork and a description for each relic. Artifacts are also given a “black market value”, indicating that they can perhaps be sold for profit. There has been an indication that your journal may come with some form of “mini-game” to study findings.

Archaeology trainers can be found in the capital cities. Horde players learn Archaeology from certain NPCs belonging to The Reliquary faction, Alliance players do so at Explorers’ League NPCs.

Alliance
  • Human male Harrison Jones (Stormwind)
  • Human female Darnella Winford

Horde
  • BloodElf male Belloc Brightblade (Orgrimmar)
  • Undead male Adam Hossackω τ α (Undercity)
  • BloodElf female Elynara

Now from all the new stuff from the new Cataclysm expansion, I am most excited at the brand new second profession called Archaeology which everyone can take up. This brings the game some Indiana Jones element where we will be able to unearth some cool lores, upgrades, mounts, instant port and recipes to name a few.

For a more indepth view of what Archaeology is all about, take a look at this video taken from the recent Blizzcon:

So if you happen to level a new alchemist on your new character and managed to get to 350 (and lvl 68), then you get to choose a specialization. I obviously wanted Elixir mastery since I understand that it is the most profitable one.

So I went to pick up the quest and as soon as I saw BM I died a little from the inside as I couldn't be bothered farming the rep so I dropped it. I then went to pick up Pot Mastery instead, I saw it involved BoT and dropped it also since no one seems to be running those instances anymore.

Hence I took up Transmutation Mastery and thought it might come in handy especially with the 3.2 patch for gems transmutations.

But it kinda saddened me that I wouldn't make any decent profit till 3.2 so I decided I'd drop the Transmutation Master specialization (which I had become) and do the Elixir quest with the help of a guild mate of mine.

So I went up to pick the quest and figured out that because I had become Transmute Master, I could become Elixir Master without doing the darn quest and thankfully I was right.

So, to summarized this all up:

1. Become Trans Master (4 Primal Mights like 50g on my server)
2. Drop It
3. Go to the Elixir Master in Shat or Pot Master in Zangarmash
4. Become one of the above with only 150g spend and no rep farming effort

This is for people leveling alts or stuck on a Mastery they do not want. I am pretty sure it is old and all, but sometimes the simplest of things can be overlooked.

As a side note, you need to go to your current mastery trainer to drop it before you can take up a new alchemy specialization of your choice.

Select your preferred button or number that can be used in game to activate a macro, I personally use the 1 button so I can put the macro on the skill bar and not have to mess with my keybinds. But if you have a certain button you like, go ahead and use that as long as you are comfortable with it.

So now we have a macro slot selected, let us make the macro first. Choose an empty slot and go to Assign Macro > Create New Macro, This will open up a new box.

If you already have a macro there that's fine, just make a new one, doesn't matter what it is named although you might want to name it something you will recognize if you use multiple macros like I do. Then make sure Auto Loot is ON.

If you're milling type in the following in accordance to the pigment you're looking for:

Alabaster Pigment
/cast Milling
/use Bloodthistle
/use Peacebloom
/use Silverleaf
/use Earthroot
/use Mageroyal

Dusky Pigment
/cast Milling
/use Briarthorn
/use Swiftthistle
/use Bruiseweed
/use Stranglekelp

Golden Pigment
/cast Milling
/use Wild Steelbloom
/use Grave Moss
/use Kingsblood
/use Liferoot

Emerald Pigment
/cast Milling
/use Fadeleaf
/use Goldthorn
/use Khadgar's Whiskers
/use Wintersbite

Violet Pigment
/cast Milling
/use Firebloom
/use Purple Lotus
/use Arthas' Tears
/use Sungrass
/use Blindweed
/use Ghost Mushroom
/use Gromsblood

Silvery Pigment
/cast Milling
/use Golden Sansam
/use Dreamfoil
/use Mountain Silversage
/use Plaguebloom
/use Icecap

Nether Pigment
/cast Milling
/use Dreaming Glory
/use Felweed
/use Flame Cap
/use Mana Thistle
/use Netherbloom
/use Nightmare Vine
/use Ragveil
/use Terocone
/use Ancient Lichen

Azure Pigment
/cast Milling
/use Goldclover
/use Tiger Lily
/use Deadnettle
/use Adder's Tongue
/use Talandra's Rose
/use Peacebloom
/use Icethorn
/use Lichbloom

It's important that you will always have a stack of 5 of these herbs and if you have an uneven stack, just remove it from your bag. So just make sure you have stacks in multiples of 5, ie. 5,10,15,20 nothing like 11, or 14, or 19, to improve efficiency.

If you want to make a separate macro for each type of pigment that's fine, just switch them out when you want to mill those herbs. Again it is totally up to you.

This is pretty much it for the milling. After you are done milling then just make your ink or sell the pigment or whatever you want to do.

A good tip to keep in mind for Azure pigment is that Adder's Tongue, at least on my server goes for roughly 20-22g and sometimes less, and has a 50% chance to mill Icy Pigment, which turns into Snowfall Ink, which can be very profitable. So I try to buy as much Adder's Tongue as I can cheaply and mill that for cash.

Let us now move unto the enchanting or disenchanting macro section. There isn't much to this either. You just have to make a new WoW macro and type the following based on the most common item or items you use to disenchant with:

/cast disenchant
/use [item name]

You can also add multiple items to the macro too, just go to the next line and add like so:

/cast disenchant
/use [item name]
/use [item name]
/use [item name]
/use [item name]

Jewelcrafting 375-450
Jewelcrafting was introduced during the Burning Crusade expansion and now with the current WotLK expansion, it has grown in terms of the availability of epic rings, necklaces and self-use trinkets or figurines. In my opinion, Prospecting makes Jewelcrafting into a cash cow.

Enchanting TrainerEnchanting is one of my favorite profession in the game and quite expensive as well to powerlevel but can make you a nice return of consistent gold income with disenchanting and selling of mats. With the launch of Wrath of the Lich King, I guess it is better to start of with the location of trainers:

Alliance:
Elizabeth Jackson - 58,62 in Valgarde, Howling Fjord.
Alexis Marlowe - 57,71 in Valiance Keep, Borean Tundra.

Horde:
Eorain Dawnstrike - 41,53 in Warsong Hold, Borean Tundra.
Emil Autumn - 78,28 in Vengence Landing, Howling Fjord.

Neutral:
Enchanter Nalthanis - 38,39 in Dalaran.

Here is the powerleveling guide for enchanting 375 to 450. Kindly note that some of the steps are overlapping, so use the one which you have mats for or can be bought cheaply from the auction house:

375-385
Enchant Bracers - Exceptional Intellect – 10 Infinite Dust
Enchant Boots - Assault – 4 infinite Dust + 4 Lesser Cosmic Essence

380-390

385-395
Enchant Boots – Icewalker – 8 Infinite Dust + 1 Crystallized Water

395-405
Enchant Cloak - Superior Agility – 9 Infinite Dust

Enchant Gloves- Precision – 15 Infinite Dust + 5 Greater Cosmic Essence

415-425
Enchant Boots- Superior Agility – 16 Infinite Dust + 6 Greater Cosmic Essence

420-430
Enchant Cloak- Major Agility - 18Infinite Dust + 6 Greater Cosmic Essence + 2 Dream Shard
Enchant Bracer- Major Spirit - 16 Infinite Dust + 12 Greater Cosmic Essence

430-440

440-450
Enchant Weapon – Lifeward – 4 Abyss Crystal
Enchant Cloak – Shadow Armor - 20 Infinite Dust + 12 Greater Cosmic Essence + 1 Abyss Crystal

Kindly note that at enchanting level 430, you will need to obtain the Runed Titanium Rod which mats required are as follows:

1 x Titanium Rod
40 x Infinite Dust
12 x Greater Cosmic Essence

Inscription is the new profession in WoW Wrath of the Lich King expansion which allows players to alter the cooldown, damage, or mechanics (stun, knockback, DoT, HoT, etc.) of a spell. Without a doubt Inscription is the best combined with Herbalism as your secondary profession which is it's primary gathering profession.

Without further ado, here is the most efficient way to level Inscription but do note that you may have to train glyphs frequently. As you are leveling you can usually learn new glyphs every 5 skillups from the trainer. They will be orange when first learned so make sure you are only using orange glyphs to level unless otherwise specified. If your glyphs turn yellow, head back to the trainer.

Stage 1: Inscription 1 - 75. Alabaster Pigment Stage.
Herbs: Peacebloom, Silverleaf, Earthroot.
Materials used 6 - 7 stacks herbs, ~60 Alabaster Pigment (min), 15 Ivory Ink, 20 Moonglow Ink, 35 Light Parchment.

What to craft:
1 - 20 = Ivory Ink
20 - 35 = Scroll of Stamina
35 - 55 = Moonglow Ink
55 - 75 = Armor Vellum

Stage 2: Inscriptions 75 - 100. Dusky Pigment Stage.
Herbs: Mageroyal, Briarthorn, Swiftthistle, Bruiseweed, Stranglekelp.
Materials used 4 - 5 stacks herbs, 1 Alabaser Pigment, 40 Dusky Pigment, 1 Moonglow Ink, 20 Midnight Ink, 22 Light Parchment.

What to craft:
75 - 76 = Minor Inscription Research (20 hour cooldown, not counting Beta bugs)
76 - 80 = Midnight Ink (Make all 20 ink before you continue crafting)
80 - 100 = Any orange recipe class glyph.

Stage 3: Inscriptions 100 - 150. Golden Pigment Milling Stage.
Herbs: Wild Steelbloom, Grave Moss, Kingsblood, Liferoot.
Materials used 10 - 11 stacks herbs, ~100 - 110 Golden Pigment, ~50 - 55 Lion's Ink, ~10 Dawnstar Ink, ~40 - 45 Common Parchment

What to craft:
100 - 105 = Lion's Ink (Make 50 Ink to start)
105 - 125 = Various class glyphs using orange recipes only
125 - 135 = Dawnstar Ink (as many as you can with the pigment you've milled) and various orange class glyphs if you haven't hit 135 from the Ink alone.
135 - 145 = Any orange recipe class glyph.
145 - 150 = Strange Tarot (If you have enough Dawnstar Ink you can start making these sooner)

Stage 4: Inscriptions 150 - 200. Emerald Pigment Stage.
Herbs: Fadeleaf, Goldthorn, Khadgar's Whiskers, Wintersbite
Materials used 10 - 11 stacks herbs, ~80 - 90 Emerald Pigment, 20 Indigo Pigment, ~40 Jadefire Ink, 20 Royal Ink, 40 Common Parchment

What to craft:
150 - 155 = Jadefire Ink (Make 40 Ink to start)
155 - 175 = Any orange recipe class glyph.
175 - 180 = Royal Ink
180 - 190 = Any orange recipe class glyph.
190 - 200 = Arcane Tarot (provided you've made enough Royal Ink for 10, if not make some more class glyphs from 190-195 to compensate)

Stage 5: Inscriptions 200 - 250. Violet Pigment Stage.
Herbs: Firebloom, Purple Lotus, Arthas' Tears, Sungrass, Blindweed, Ghost Mushroom, Gromsblood
Materials used 8 - 10 stacks herbs, ~90-100 Violet Pigment, 15 Ruby Pigment, 45 - 50 Celestial Ink, 15 Fiery Ink, 40 Heavy Parchment

What to craft:
200 - 205 = Celestial Ink (Make 45 Ink to start)
205 - 225 = Any orange recipe class glyph.
225 - 230 = Fiery Ink (If you don't get to 230 from the pigment you have, make any orange recipe class glyph to finish)
230 - 235 = Any orange recipe class glyph.
235 - 250 = Weapon Vellum II (If you don't have enough Fiery Ink, make class glyphs to fill in between 235 - 240)

This is a powerleveling guide which will walk you through the quickest and cheapest way to powerlevel tailoring from 375-450 using alternative patterns listed whenever it makes sense.

Leveling Guide:
Note every pattern listed is purchasable from the trainer or a vendor unless highlighted

From 350-375
Bolt of Frostweave (5x Frostweave Cloth) x 1445
Not at 375 yet? No worries! You can make Bolt of Frostweaves until you are!

From 375-380
Frostwoven Robe (4x Bolt of Frostweave, 1x Eternium Thread) x5

From 375-425
you can craft basically the entire Frostwoven and Duskweave set - which is worth it if you plan on using it. Otherwise just goes over the cheapest items in these 2 sets to skill up with.

From 380-390
Frostwoven Leggings (5x Bolt of Frostweave, 1x Ethernium Thread) x10

From 390-395
Frostwoven Boots (4x Bolt of Frostweave, 1x Ethernium Thread) x5

From 395-400
Frostwoven Leggings (5x Bolt of Frostweave, 1x Ethernium Thread) x5

From 400-405
Bolt of Imbued Frostweave (3x Bolt of Frostweave, 2x Infinite Dust) x5
Craft as may of these as you can until it turns grey at 405, you’ll need it to level from 425-450. If you plan on leveling only to 440 you’ll need 90 of these. If you plan on leveling to 450 you need about 300 more.

From 405-415
Duskweave Wristwraps (8x Bolt of Frostweave, 1x Ethernium Thread) x5

From 415-420
Duskweave Gloves (9x Bolt of Frostweave, 1x Ethernium Thread) x5

From 420-425
Duskweave Shoulders (10x Bolt of Frostweave, 1x Ethernium Thread) x5

From 425-430
Frostweave Bag (6x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 2x Ethernium Thread) x5
Black Duskweave Wristwraps (4x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 2x Iceweb Spider Silk, 2x Ethernium Thread) x5
Black Duskweave Leggings (5x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 2x Iceweb Spider Silk, 2x Ethernium Thread) x5
Depending if you have any Iceweb Spider Silk, Black Duskweave Wristwraps are the cheapest way to level to 430 - I included the Black Duskweave Leggings as they are a good pair of rare leggings that cost only 1 extra Bolt of Imbued Frostweave.

From 430-440
Frostweave Bag (6x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 2x Ethernium Thread) x10
Cheapest thing you can make at this point and at least you can auction them to get some profit.

From 440-445
Frostweave Bag (6x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 2x Ethernium Thread) x25
Optional Abyssal Bag (4x Ebonweave, 2x Spellweave, 1x Ethernium Thread) x5 - Pattern Obtained through Knights of the Ebon Blade Revered Reputation
Optional Mysterious Bag (4x Spellweave, 2x Moonshroud, 1x Ethernium Thread) x5 - Pattern Obtained through The Wyrmrest Accord Revered Reputation
Optional Glacial Bag (4x Moonshroud, 4x Ebonweave, 1x Ethernium Thread) x5 - Pattern Obtained through The Son of Hodir Exaulted Reputation
Now this gets extremely hard. There are a handful of patterns that stay yellow to 445 but the cheapest way to go is to just make 25x Frostweave Bags and pray that you get lucky. No seriously. The other option is to craft the 3 rare bags - however Ebonweave, Spellweave, and Moonshroud all have a 4 day cooldown (similar to the cloths in TBC) and the patterns all require reputation to purchase.

From 445-450
Frostweave Bag (6x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 2x Ethernium Thread) x25
Optional Ebonweave Gloves (4x Ebonweave, 4x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 1x Eternium Thread, 1x Frozen Orb) x5
Optional Moonshroud Gloves (4x Moonshroud, 4x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 1x Eternium Thread, 1x Frozen Orb) x5
Optional Spellweave Gloves (4x Spellweave, 4x Bolt of Imbued Frostweave, 1x Eternium Thread, 1x Frozen Orb) x5
Optional Mysterious Bag (4x Spellweave, 2x Moonshroud, 1x Ethernium Thread) x5
Optional Glacial Bag (4x Moonshroud, 4x Ebonweave, 1x Ethernium Thread) x5
You can also make the tailoring epic gloves now as well so might as well craft 1 to help level. Past that the cheapest way is still Frostweave Bag followed by the 2 rare bags. (Abyssal Bags turn green at 445 so is not on this list.)

Total Materials Required:
390 Imbued Frostweave
275 Frostweave Bolt
175 Ethernium Thread

or

7225 Frostweave Cloth
780 Infinite Dust
175 Ethernium Thread

Note that this is the fastest way to get to 450 - you can craft the optional items to sell or to use, but you’ll need more types of materials and it’ll cost a lot more and/or take much longer.

Special Perks for Tailors
Tailors get unique cloak enchants (healer - Darkglow Embroidery, caster - Lightweave Embroidery, melee - Swordguard Embroidery and as well as an easy to craft Spellthread to use on their pants (note that it is not any better then the one they can craft for other players, however the materials are drastically cheaper). Finally tailors get to craft a magic carpet to ride on! Tailors also get a new ability learned from a world drop book - Northern Cloth Scavenging - which increases the cloth drop rates of all Northrend Humonoids they kill!

For those saving TBC materials - you can still make rare/epic TBC tailoring items up to 395 (just about every pattern that crafts a rare/epic item that you learned at 375 will turn green at 390 and gray at 395) however this guide will focus on the cheapest materials to get to 450 - which in all cases points to new Northrend green tailoring items. If you still want to stock up on materials to level with TBC mats your best bet is to craft a ton of Golden Spellthread/Runic Spellthread as they are currently the cheapest high level items as well as still being somewhat useful in WOTLK.

Although it might be common sense for some... I still feel it is worth sharing this with everyone! Apparently the Herb Gathering spell IS indeed affected by Haste!

So when you go for your long session of herbing grind, you might want to equip your haste gear when flying around to catch 'em!

Granted that it won't speed things up a whole lot, but it'll help a little especially when competing with other herbalist in the area.

Take a look at the above screenshot, if you need further proof!

First and foremost, you would need to be an Engineer with a Mote Extractor in order to do this. Head over to the north of Howling Fjord where you can find them at the 3 lakes where the mote clouds spawns quite often.

You can easily obtain between 30-40 primals in an hour if you are the only one there. For the exact location, kindly view the map below:

Crystallized Air

Update: 25th Nov 2008
Crystallized Water Farming Spot

Frozen Earth mobs around here drop 1-2 crystallized water every single kill. The exact spot is highlighted on the map below (kindly click map for enlarge view).

Co-ords are 54,47 in Zul'Drak

First of all, you must be a herbalist, or your friend has to be a herbalist.

Go to Skettis (Southeast in Terrokar Forrest). Around the lake, Talonsworn Forest-Ragers patrol. There are 2 up at a time, and respawn roughly 2-4 minutes after you kill one. They do not drop anything special, but this is where the herbalism comes into play. After you kill them, you can Herb them, which yields the following:

2 sets of 2-4 herbs which can be any of these - Felweed, Dreaming Glory, Mana Thistle, Terocone, Ancient Lichen, and Black Lotus... Yes... Black Lotus.

IT GET'S BETTER! Every time you herb them you also get 2-5 Motes of Life!!! On my server, Motes of life sell for 12-15 gold each. And most of the herbs sell for 20-30g a stack, as well as Black lotus selling for 10-15g each.

These Trees CAN be soloed because they can be stunned / feared, but is very hard if your not ranged. I am a Rogue in full kara / gruul epics and I have a hard time, so i bring along a friend to help. I give him 25% of what i make.

The beauty of this is that you can kill them in 2-3 minutes tops, and they have an extremely fast respawn time for a great farming session!

Adamantite Ore go for an average of 20-30g a stack on my server.

If your a Miner with main or on an alt even better cause more profits for you! But I'm lazy to run around Outlands for veins and I have the gold to buy ore with.

4 chances for a rare gem in each stack. If you even just get 1 rare in chances that stack is already paid for. Rare gems go from 30-50g each on my server Nightseye being the most usually. I've paid 23g for a stack of ores and got 3 rares worth a total of 140g in that one stack. 110g Profit right there. But gotta think there are times all you do get is the dust and nothing else.

Only problem with this guide is the supplies of Adamantite Ore on AH.

But, I spend many 1 hour of my time buying and prospecting Adamantite Ore a day. Usually I save all my gems till I get 10+ of each and send in trade chat Selling in bulk!! Usually you can get a little more then AH prices if you have bulk of the gems.

Prospecting can be trained at Jewelrycraft skill level 20. 5 ores of each WHITE LETTER ore (meaning no silver, gold, etc), can be trained as follows:

Adamantite Ore - 325 Skill
Fel Iron Ore - 275 Skill
Thorium Ore - 250 Skill
Mithril Ore - 175 Skill
Iron Ore - 125 Skill
Tin Ore - 50 Skill
Copper Ore - 1 Skill

Another thing is... each stack will give you 1 Adamantite Dust (4.5g) to the vendor. And usually 1-2 uncommon gems 20g a stack to vendor also.

If you have time and gold to check ah and prospect you can easily make 1000g+ a day doing this and selling the rares.

IMO Don't cut and sell the gems cause you will have to pay deposit fees and you compete with others on the AH. If you put up say a Runed Living Ruby for 55g. Next min someone puts it up for 50g your screwed till that one sells. Waste of time and Deposit fee.

When BC first came out I use to sell cut uncommons for 5-10g each and made 3000g in 2 weeks. Now the cutting business is sorta unstable. Selling of uncut rare gems will always be needed.

Approximate Materials Required

2160 x Netherweave Cloth
200 x Arcance Dust
25 x Netherweb Spider silk
40 x Rune Thread
20 x Knothide Leather

300 - 325
Bolts of Netherweave (6 x Netherweave Cloth each)
(Seriously, your going to need about 430 bolts, so you may aswell get the skill up's for it)

326 - 340
Bolts of Imbued Netherweave (3 x Bolts of Netherweave, 2 x Arcane Dust each)
(You'll need at least 60 bolts for later, so that should see you through to 340)

341 - 350
Netherweave Boots (6 x Bolts of Netherweave, 2 x Knothide Leather, 1 x Rune Thread each) x 10

351 - 360
Netherweave Tunic (8 x Bolts of Netherweave, 2 x Rune Thread each) x 10

361 - 370
Imbued Netherweave Tunic¹ (6 x Imbued Netherweave Bolts, 2 x Netherweb Spider Silk, 1 x Rune Thread each) x 10

Pattern is sold by Arrond in Shadowmoon Valley. You need to have Scryers rep to be able to talk to him, but they are not BoP, so if your aligned with the Aldors, get someone else to buy them for you. They are also a limited supply recipe, which isn't ideal, but they are by far the best way to level Tailoring from 360 to 370, so it's worth camping for them.

It's worth noting that Imbued Netherweave Tunic could take you all the way to 375, but could mean making 20-30 of them or even more to get the last 5 points. Or you could get really lucky like Selenia on EU-Magtheridon and get the 5 points from the first 5 they made past 370. However I would recommend that whilst trying to farm mats for the last 5 points that you do the following:

371 - 375
Arcanoweave Boots (8 x Bolts of Netherweave, 16 x Arcane dust, 2 x Rune Thread each) x 5
N.B. The pattern for Arcanoweave Boots, drops from Sunseeker Astromage in The Mechanar. It's BoP and the drop rate is ~1%, but it's still worth spending the time trying to get it, because if you don't get it, you'll have to make items that require mats from this dungeon anyway, to get those last five points. Thanks to Shoguni on EU-Doomhammer for finding this out )

If your an enchanter, disenchant all the Netherweave Robes and Tunics for Arcane Dust. If your not, get a friend or guild mate who is to do it for you. This will save you some money on Arcane Dust.
